Kicking Up a Racket (2023)
For this short documentary about the punk subculture in Dublin, I was the Director of Photography, as well as the colour grader. Working on this project was an extremely fun learning experience. Here, you’ll see I have some stills from the film.
Study of a Girl is my debut short film. I took on most of the crew roles, along with my partner Davi Romao Pacheco Avila. I had a very specific vision in mind, where I wanted it to look like a religious altar dedicated to a loved one. I enjoy themes of intense love and obsession to the point of almost worshipping, which is why Belladonna, the protagonist, falls apart at the fact that the one she loves doesn’t love her back. I also wanted it to be completely from a female gaze, with inspiration from Sofia Coppola and the production design, costuming, and feel of her films.
